“You’ve got to be willing to lose everything to find yourself.” ~ Iyanla Vanzant
Why do we resist change? Most of us do whatever we can to keep the status quo even though we know it is not best for us.
Change is uncomfortable and inconvenient at best and frightening for most of us even when we know the change is necessary. If we can acknowledge our resistance, fear, and procrastination that inevitably come along with change and finally move past it, we are likely on our way to positive change. Change can be incredibly freeing and empowering! We will never know what lies ahead of us if we choose to believe we are stuck.
Fear of the unknown is what keeps us (creatures of habit) stuck. The illusion of being stuck with no way out grasps us tightly. The mind that believes there is no other way becomes paralyzed with fear, acquiescing to the illusion of its deep-seated grip. To know if a change you may be contemplating is the right choice for you ask yourself if the change is coming from love or fear. Is this change for love of self or another or are you staying stuck out of fear? Nothing changes if nothing changes. My hope is for you to find the courage to make the changes you know you need to make.
Three Quotes about Change:
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise so I am changing myself.” ~ Rumi
“People change for two main reasons: either their minds have been opened or their hearts have been broken.” ~ Steven Aitchison
“When a flower doesn’t bloom you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.”
~ Alexander Den Heijer
